Hello There!

About MTMS
Miss Thea’s Montessori Schoolhouse provides a nurturing educational environment deeply rooted in the Montessori philosophy. Similar to Dr. Montessori, I emphasize the importance of creating a peaceful and supportive environment where children can flourish. My classroom radiates joy and tranquility, inviting each child to participate in meaningful learning experiences.
My mission is to empower every child to embark on their own journey of self-discovery and independence.
“The goal of childhood education should be to activate the child's own natural desire to learn.” -Maria Montessori
The classroom caters to children between the ages of 2 and 5 years, offering a comprehensive environment that fosters both education and development. I ensure a low student-to-teacher ratio, allowing for individualized attention for every child. We emphasize the importance of family engagement as a vital component of student achievement.
Multi-age Classroom
Children at various stages of development collaborate in a structured setting to cultivate independence and form a cohesive learning community. Within this nurturing environment, older children have the chance to mentor younger ones, fostering leadership skills and reinforcing their own knowledge.
Freedom of Choice
Under the guidance and assistance of the guide, children are able to work independently and develop their skills while expressing their ideas, needs, and wants. The provision of daily uninterrupted time allows them to have the freedom of exploring a tailored learning experience and advance at their own individual pace.

The Prepared Environment
The classroom environment is organized with unique materials that foster independent learning. The teachers serve as guides while the materials help children to explore their own understanding, information, and skills. The teachers prepare the environment and demonstrate the use of the materials according to each student’s interests and abilities
Unique Materials
The Montessori classroom materials designed by Dr. Maria Montessori, focus on specific developmental skills. Each material provides opportunity to self-correct and engage with specific concepts. The material sets are often color coded on the shelf and made of natural resources, like woods.

Practical Life Skills
Practical Life serves as the foundation of the environment. It is the first area introduced to new students coming to the program. Children will engage in hands-on activities to promote decision making, motor development, and a sense of responsibility for self and the environment; lessons on hand washing, washing clothes on a washboard, polishing silver, pouring from glasses, using a spoon, and tong. The goal is to develop independence, muscle strength, bodily coordination and movement.
Order and Peace
A harmonious and nurturing environment that fosters respect for self as well as the space and work of others. A peaceful learning environment helps to maintain order for students to work and play independently as well as in a classroom community
